Dallas County Records Building
Commencing in 2017, a significant rehabilitation project was initiated for the historical 280,000-SF Dallas County Records Building complex, signaling a remarkable transformation. This ambitious project, spanning 280,000 square feet, embarked on a journey to interconnect three historic downtown landmarks: The Old Criminal Courts Building, a testament to Dallas’s rich past, erected in 1915; The Records Building, standing since 1928 as a guardian of the city’s administrative history; and The Records Building Annex, a symbol of mid-century modern architecture, established in 1955.
Following its completion in October 2021, this comprehensive renovation seamlessly merged these three distinct structures into a unified facility. A striking addition to the complex is the newly integrated 40,000-square-foot, glass-enclosed seventh floor. This addition not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also serves as a dynamic space open to the public, catering to a multitude of special events and community gatherings. With each step of progress, the transformed Dallas County Records Building complex stands as a testament to the preservation of heritage and the embracement of modernity, offering a space where history and innovation intersect.
